CHEF INTERNET BLOG MARCH 2010
It was a busy week for me last week even though I was on holiday from my day job (head chef at the cricklewood).
Wednesday was my usual deadline stressed day as my weekly article in the Sunday Mail is due in and believe it or not it takes me a fair bit of time, I was also involved in the Right at Home exhibition at the SECC where I was handing samples of fabulous food kindly donated by the suppliers - (thanks to those who helped out).
I'd also like to thank Andy and Anton from Hummingbird on Bath street who were on hand to create some fantastic cocktails to accompany my culinary efforts... we even managed to get on Real Radio and had some random French Martini banter.
So down to business.... This week's recipe for you is for my delicious Lasagne and those of you local to Bothwell will know that I lay down the gauntlet to the local Italian eateries by claiming to make the best lasagne in Bothwell, to this date no reply therefore I have no choice but to state claim to this title and to ensure the recipe isn't kept like grannies secret here it is so you have a go at making it at home, any questions drop me an e-mail; michaelkilkie@sundaymail.co.uk
CHEFS INTERNET BLOG JANUARY 2010
Well, the madness of the festive season is well and truly behind us now and it's onwards and upwards for myself, and the rest of the team here at The Cricklewood for 2010 . With a full new kitchen brigade and management team in place, it's exciting times over here in Bothwell.
The brand new menus are already written, currently the bar and restaurant areas run the same menu but in the next few weeks I'm going to re-launch with both a bar menu and restaurant menu. The bar menu will include all your favourite, classic pub meals such as beer battered haddock and chips, steak pie, macaroni cheese etc, all homemade and served in the relaxed, informal surroundings of our cosy bar. Whilst in the restaurant we'll be concentrating on the finer side of Scottish and international produce, duck, lamb, steak, monkfish, halibut, scallops, chorizo, handmade Italian sausages.
And of course we'll still be offering great value, particularly with our early supper deal, and the same high standard of cooking whether you choose to dine in the bar or the restaurant.
First things first though, it's valentines weekend soon, so why not join us for a delightful 3 course meal with complimentary fizz for only £60 per couple.
I look forward to welcoming you to The Cricklewood sometime soon, as a great singer once said 'the times they are a changing'.
Right, where's that pen? I'm off to write next years Christmas menu!!
