We use only the finest local food producers.

Suppliers

Braehead

Founded in 1988 on the Craufurdland Castle Estate, Kilmarnock, Braehead Foods has become synonymous with fine food and game. Managing Director Craig Stevenson purchased the company in 1999 with the aim of making high quality foods more readily available to chefs.

Braehead Foods Ltd is based in Kilmarnock, Scotland and supplies high quality game and speciality produce to delicatessens, pubs and restaurants across the UK. Braehead Foods sources game from over 100 estates across Scotland, including venison, pheasant, partridge, grouse and rabbit. It is the only supplier in Scotland of Gressingham Duck.

Over the years, Campbell Brothers have strived to enhance their reputation as a professional catering butcher to the Scottish Catering & Hospitality Industry, providing a service to caterers of all kinds. Operating from just one shop in 60 Queen Street, Edinburgh at the outset in 1910, ninety years later they now operate from a more spacious and modern EC approved cutting plant situated in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian and maintain their traditional values for providing personal service and quality produce, adapting their products and services to meet the individual needs of their clientele.

FAIRTRADE certified contracts guarantee coffee farmers a minimum price for their beans, so their costs of production are covered. The farmers are also paid a premium, which enables them to invest in their communities to improve living and working conditions.

ORGANIC certification means that coffee farmers avoid unnecessary chemicals and pesticides - good news for plant and animal life. Organic certification also means more money to the farmers, over and above the Fairtrade price.

THE RAINFOREST ALLIANCE seal means that farms look after the tropical forests where they live and work. Wildlife is protected, rivers kept clean and natural resources untouched.

Richardsons Oils

Richardson Oils is a family run business based in Coatbridge, just off the M8 Motorway. Richardson Oils have been trading for over 15 years and started initially as a waste oil collection service. Sales of fresh oil, dry store food products and catering disposables have increasingly formed the major part of their business.

Simon Howie

The Howie family has a long and cherished association with quality meat. Earlier generations farmed in Perthshire, in the heart of rural Scotland, its hills and glens renowned for the breeding and rearing of the finest beef and lamb. It was logical for a family so steeped in the best traditions of quality Scotch beef to move into the business of wholesaling, not only of beef but a range of other fine Scottish Meats, and from there into retailing.

Simon Howie began his first butchery business from the Perthshire village of Dunning, where it quickly established an outstanding reputation for supplying meat to restaurants and hotels. A state of the art factory was built to keep up with demand from which it continues to supply butchery and chef prepared products to chefs, restaurants and many of the UK's leading supermarkets. Although Simon Howie Butchers is now a much bigger operation, traditional craft skills are still practised, quite literally taking the concept of a local butcher into the supermarket arena.

Cricklewood Help The Community!

As many of you are aware your local school Bothwell Primary is getting Refubished and the Fundraising Commitee are as always looking for generous donations, so I came up with the idea of Auctioning off our chef Michael Kilkie, who is also resident chef and columist for The Sunday Mail, And that raised over £250 to go toward the schools "Smart Board fund" Michael and I went to Mr/s Samwells House to cook and serve them and 8 of there Guests.

Since then we have came up with a great idea, That for every steak pie we sell we are going to donate 0.50p toward the schools "smart board fund"

So far since the new menu being launched we have raised over £60 per week.

We are supporting the school at every corner and we hope that you do the same!

Chefs Blog

April Blog

Last week I was off to Argyll to a private estate to cook a 5 course dinner for 23 Tesco Extra store managers and their senior store bosses, the dinner was a roaring success and featured a couple of the dishes from our menu here at The Cricklewood.

At the weekend I was invited to The Red Hot Ball at The Thistle Hotel in Glasgow.  Unfortunately due to our usual busy Saturday here at The Cricklewood I couldn't attend but I did offer a prize for the auction, to cook a meal for 6 at someone's home. Tam Cowan hosted the night and sold me to 2 separate tables at £1900 each, raising £3800 for the charity.

This week I'm going to help you stay away from the takeaways with a delicious Indian style chicken curry recipe for you all to try your hand at.  Get the recipe <HERE

Here at The Cricklewood it's business as usual with a few highlights to look forward to; our family fun day, Easter Sunday and the launch of our new bar and restaurant menus.
